Not all of us are able to care for plants the way we should, but these resilient plants can withstand almost any kind of negligence including overwatering, not enough watering, lack of sunshine, and more! Let's take a look at these 10 indoor plants you can't kill so that you can have a little green in your life!
10 Plants You Can't Kill
#1. Air Plant
Air plants are beautiful little plants that actually don't need any soil – they'll simply attach themselves to any trees, rocks, or ornaments. As the name suggests, they need air, so give them space and mist them with water once or twice a week. Every few weeks, dip them in water for 20-30 minutes to revive them.
#2. Boston Fern
Boston ferns can add SO much to any home, and they're surprisingly easy to care for! Give them just a little bit of water every week as well as indirect sunlight and they're good to go!
#3. Mother In Law's Tongue
Although the name isn't very pretty, the plant itself IS because it thrives in neglect. You only need to water it once a month and give it some indirect sunlight once in a while, but aside from that, this plant is pretty much self sustaining!
#4. Peace Lily
These air purifying plants only need a spritz of water every 2 weeks and a little bit of sunshine to thrive! Plus, they look stunning in any area of your home!
#5. Fiddle Leaf Fig
Although these plants need a little more maintenance than others, they'll be well worth your time as they can make any corner of your home look showstopping! Give them a little water once a week, some indirect sunlight, and be sure to dust off the leaves once in a while.
#6. Calathea
Also called Peacock plant, Zebra plant, or Rattlesnake plant, the calathea prefers moist and humid air (perfect for those in tropical or subtropical regions), and indirect sunlight.
#7. Aloe Vera
The aloe vera plant has a slew of medicinal benefits and it's very low maintenance. It needs only a little bit of indirect sunlight and a good drench once every couple of weeks!
#8. Philodendron
Keep these stunning plants away from direct sunlight and give them some water once a week or even once every two weeks! They too, can thrive on neglect!
#9. Jade Plant
Also known as money plants, Jade plants are actually succulents and don't require much care at all! Keep away from direct sunlight and water sparingly.
#10. ZZ Plant
One of THE most resilient plants in the world, the ZZ plant can tolerate low light, drought, dry air, bugs, and pretty much anything else you can throw at it! It only needs to be watered once a month, and even if you DO forget to do that, it will still bounce back!

Thank you for this list! I’m definitely gonna try some of these. I’ve almost given up because the few houseplants I didn’t kill stayed small, scraggly and sad. I’m determined to try again though, so thanks for the awesome site!
huh? have you even tried taking care of some of these plants? stromanthe triostar? really?for beginners? a fiddle leaf fig? calatheas are known to be high maintenance plants. this is really the first time ive encountered a list naming a triostar as an unkillable plant. fiddle leaf requires a LOT of sunlight and is not also really beginner friendly. since when did the monstera deliciosa become a philodendron?? you must have the greenest thumb of all. otherwise, please do some research first
Hi Sam,
No need to be rude 🙂 We’ve definitely done our research and even a poll, and these plants came in the top 10 easiest and most low maintenance plants. But of course, ever environment is different, and therefore some may be easier to grow for others, while others may not.
